INTERSECTION

Apothecary (UTC) / 744 McCallie Ave. December 9, 2016 - December 9, 2016

In the words of businesswoman Kylie Jenner, 2016 has been a “year of realizing stuff.”

From the classroom to the internet, from the dinner table to the bar, from places of worship to the workplace, we realize that we feel divided. There has not always been an outlet to communicate free of judgement and alienation with others in our community. In this time of division, we are coming together to curate a safe and supportive space where we can discuss our opinions and concerns.

Intersection aims to generate dialogue around issues that involve us as individuals within a larger community. So, we turned to 160 of our friends, family, and peers for help. We asked them to answer a series of questions intending to open conversation about topics they feel we can and can’t discuss together. Now, we turn to you as the viewer to interact with the exhibition space and evaluate your stance by contributing to the 800 answers on the wall.

What divides us?

What do you feel you can’t say?

With whom do you feel you can’t communicate?

What do you care about?

Chattanooga is...
