The City of Chattanooga Government and Multicultural Affairs will commemorate Women's History Month 2017 with an art exhibit titled Chattanooga Powerful: The Feminine Lens, a provocative selection of works by 15 local women artists. The show is curated by artist and arts advocate Mia Hansford. Chattanooga Powerful: The Feminine Lens seeks to represent the deep diversity of work being created by women artists in Chattanooga. Our community is filled with strong, vital voices. Artist modalities range from recent university graduates working in audacious Fluxus inspired materials to focused landscapes -with many of the works finding their place between these two poles of lanaguage and media. The works selected reflect only a hint of the skill and imagination working in Chattanooga. Proceeds from sales of work go entirely to the artists. The exhibit runs from March 9, 2017 until April 30. Details of a celebratory reception will be forthcoming from the Mayor's Office.
