ARTIST STATEMENT

In racing, the ragged edge refers to the moment when your wheels are just between keeping control and losing traction. In my painting practice, I try and bring the work to an edge too, where there is a balance of opposition between the controlled hand and the behavior of the materials. Existing in this liminal way, the work retains an openness and refers to the rhythmic and unfolding nature of experience.
