2$ON + Studio Everything

Come to the (Extraterrestrial) Art Exhibition by local artist 2$ON this Thursday! 5-7pm.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

2$ON is a visual artist, rapper, and photographer from Chattanooga who found his love for the arts at a very young age. Born Kourtney Dewan Brown, he was always looking for an outlet to release his negative energy. At the age of twelve, he used skateboarding as a way to help find himself.

2$ON was introduced to Rondell Crier at Studio Everything in East Chattanooga. Rondell mentored 2$ON and expanded his mind in believing that he was capable of being a great artist. Since then, he has had work exhibited in art shows within the community. This includes the opportunity to display work in public spaces through the Glass House Organization including a 7x12 foot tall art piece that is framed on Glass Street.

In this exhibition, 2$ON explores the themes of alienation and otherness, in relation to his up-bringing in inner-city Chattanooga. His work questions authority implemented by others and celebrates breaking free from restraints.

ABOUT THE STUDIO

Studio Everything, founded by community artist Rondell Crier, is a creative resource, training, and empowerment space located on Glass Street. It provides a creative outlet for citywide youth and neighborhood residents with resources, consultation, and access to an equipped production studio.

It also allows residents an opportunity to showcase their work through exhibitions and art openings. Studio Everythingʼs core programs are funded through Glass House Collectiveʼs Artist Residency grant administered through the Education Foundation of America.
