Statement:
I describe myself primarily as a painter who indulges in matters of the soft world. Thread and needle, cotton, dye, water, sunshine, bleaching, painting, collage– a constant recycling of material. My work is a cyclical process of making and unmaking in order to slowly unravel moments of a restless psyche. Photographs of cloudy skies and spiders nested within unwieldy shapes and colors set the stage for dreamy performances of anxiety and longing. I navigate and assemble each work through material-sensitive movements: dancing dots, tear drops, and loose figurative forms are bound together by networks of sewn lines. Each work is a montage of memory and place. Unconscious hands reach into the mind and begin to weave webs of the familiar and unknown, each silky thread a conduit of intuition.
